Designing in spaces that we would describe as 'nooks and crannies' comes up very often in London design. It's important when designing a layout to consider the angles of a building, the ceiling height, any beams or other obtrusions into the space and the elevation, not only the plan view of a space. If a space is imagined in 3D early on, we can make the best possible use of an 'awkward' space.
