What do you get when you take three talented siblings with a shared foodie passion, the perfect venue and a genius idea? Fantastic fuss-free food and fabulous fresh flowers in a friendly, family-run all-day restaurant, that’s what – welcome to Wildflower Café.

Every aspect of this unique restaurant-come–florist is based on the same refreshingly simple philosophy – fresh seasonal produce, locally sourced wherever possible, allowed to speak for itself. This is apparent in everything from the hand-tied bouquets and potted plants sold in the gorgeous pavement florist to the interior’s understated upcycled design and the irresistible menus, devised with head chef Nico, who Leila – one of the siblings behind the venture – met at the legendary Leiths cookery school. All the dishes are freshly prepared to order from responsibly sourced, GM-free ingredients, inspired not by particular cuisines but by the produce itself – used only when in season, which makes sense from both a taste and environmental point of view. This is deliciously distinctive comfort food you simply want to eat – no messing about with foams or vapours in Nico’s kitchen, thank you very much!

Wildflower’s daytime menu includes a selection of sandwiches, all available to take away – we’re talking the likes of Asian crispy fish baguette and Steak sandwiches on toasted pugliese rather than cheese and pickle! – and daily changing blackboard specials, always including freshly made tarts, soups, pasta dishes and a couple of salads as well as scrumptious sides like halloumi with red endive and salsa verde and a small but perfectly formed kids’ menu. Or just pop in for Fizz 'n' chips – a glass of Prosecco with twice-cooked hand-cut chips – frankly, a combination we’re not sure how we ever lived without. The supper menu, which features a daily changing choice of three starters, three mains and three puds, always includes vegetarian or vegan options. Weekends are all about Wildflower’s brilliant brunch, best enjoyed with  their signature blood orange bucks fizz – from granola with home-made fruit compote to eggs Benedict, kedgeree and huevos rancheros – and the lovely sociable ‘Sundays are for sharing’ menu, with delicious boards and roasts especially for two and topped off with. Chef Nico makes all his bread, cakes and pasta lovingly from scratch in the Wildflower Café kitchen. There’s a short and sweet wine list, carefully selected to complement the food, as well as fresh juices, Allpress coffee and Birchall tea, also available to buy to take-away alongside ‘the best meringues you’ve ever tasted’ by the super-cool Meringue Girls, brownies, cakes, oils and honey by oliveology and hand-made jams from Bermondsey’s England Preserves.  

The 36-cover space has a clean, light, playful aesthetic, with a grey reclaimed timber floor and bright yellow accents. In keeping with the Wildflower ethos, the focus is on the detail with everything up-cycled and very carefully sourced giving it an eclectic and comfortable feel. The walls are home to stunning original artworks, which change on a regular basis and are also for sale. Currently exhibiting are print-works by the artist Susie Hogarth. The overall feel is both comfortable and cool with a warmly welcoming atmosphere. The flowers by the fabulous Yamina are, as you’d expect, seasonal, natural, not over-processed and, wherever possible, locally sourced

Simply delicious food, sourced with a conscience and prepared with passion – the Wildflower is undoubtedly a blooming brilliant addition to the buzzing Notting Hill scene.
